This coming year will be the first running of a 9 day stage race thoughout California, which I previously reported on but now it's got a new twist with the news that the world's biggest producer of EPO (erythropoietin) - arguably cycling's most abused drug - is to be the main sponsor Go Amgen!.

HAHAHA that's GREAT! It turns out also that Amgen manufacturs the stuff in the road cycling capital of the US -- Boulder Colorado. Something like 25% of the employees here in Boulder County belong to the company bike club and the EPO factory is on a popular riding road. They probably sell the stuff out of the back door. I wonder if there's an employee discount?
