Wildflower Out in Force
Well, it's that time of year in Chico. Spring isn't officially here yet, but don't tell the wildflowers or the trees in the orchards. About two weeks ago on a bike ride through the parts of the orchards around Chico, I saw most the trees in bloom. The other day I road the same route and didn't notice the flowers on the trees anymore. I'm assuming they've turned into buds now as we haven't had any rain to knock them off lately.
I was driving on the overpass near my house where I can get a fairly good view of the hills above Chico and noticed how nice and dark green all the trees and shrubs are. As well, you can see how the lighter green of the ground cover is starting to come in and id beginning to turn to yellow. In a couple of days or at least by weeks end, the light green will be all yellow as the ground is covered in wildflowers. It's quite beautiful, so I'll see about taking some pictures and posting them.
The unfortunate part about the weather being so nice is that all the wildflowers will be dead and gone by the time The Wildflower bike ride takes place at the end of April.
