Waiting For Contact From CSUC

Read article here

Chico State computers storing some vital student, faculty, and alumni records and personal data have been compromised or in other words, hacked. More than 59,000 people will be contacted and informed of this issue which is being called the largest computer hacking incident the university has seen. The server hackers targeted held the names and Social Security numbers of current, former and prospective students and occurred more than 3 weeks ago.

I'm not really surprised something like this occurred as Chico State campus by it's nature is an easy target. With so many students and faculty, a break in would be fairly easy with a bit of social engineering, though it doesn't seem the case in this instance. This isn't the first time this has happened either. A couple years back, I had took a security course there and the instructor mentioned an earlier break in which involved a few elementary school kids. Darned those kiddies are getting smart. So, once again, I'm not surprised, just waiting for my letter or email.
