Here is the beginnings of the tour's website
Well, it's looking like February of 2006 will be an exciting month for California cyclists and fans of professional bike racing. It was announced Friday at the world track championships in Carson, California that AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) will put up $35 million over the next 5 years to get this race off the ground.
I've heard conflicting reports as to the length of the race but whether it's 8 or 9 days of racing, or 15 or 18 teams, it's still going to be an incredible event. Slated to transverse California, the 700+ mile race will begin in Northern California and ends in Southern California.
Details of the race, including a course map, title sponsor and television rights, are expected to be finalized over the next few months. I'll keep you all posted!
